Crussh Smoothie Lab

Nicola sent this link around today, and I think it is fantastic.

The Crussh Smootie Lab is a case study in “helping people buy”. I mean, ffs, they’re helping people buy smoothies using digital to engage, entertain and push to retail.

Picture perfect retail activation via digital.

Even great ideas can be improved …

1) I’d have made it easier than using a drop-down to find the retail location. A Google mash-up using post codes would have been very easy.

2) It could use sound … Blending noises. Cute sounds of fruit dropping into the blender. Maybe shop sounds. Music. And so on.

3) Having signed up for their newsletter, I’m really hoping that they send me my personal recipe and the store address … So far, nada.

This brings to mind 2 other classic blending projects: Will It Blend, presented by Blendtec and the Joesterizer 10 Speed Frog Blender 2000. They're both hilarious.

The Frog is a classic, but I bet Crussh tastes better ...

And mobile ... text my recipe to my phone and let me bring it in to the shop.

Prolly better mobile use is to just allow you to SMS the shop and this SMS costs the same as the shake + network fee, meaning when you get to the shop, you just pick it up at the right time and have already paid meaning you don't have to queue and you get ETA of the drink so time wasted is minimal. They made the shake, they got paid... if you choose not to turn up, that’s your prob, but otherwise, its win-win. Hell, even sell to someone else there if you're a no-show... meaning they've sold 1 drink *twice*. When you do eventually rock up, they'll just make you your shake... so 2 sales and 2 drinks made and nobody lost out.

Nice idea, but premium SMS is on the way out unfortunately (at least in the UK) - The operators have all ganged up to (force us to use) give us Payforit - a horrible WAP based system that apparently is better for the users....personally I love Premium SMS, it's like the old 'special interest content' website tricks of getting people to sign-up to a sub and assuming they will not be assed to cancel or forget about it. Although probably better to be ethical and up-front these days. We're not in 1995 any more (sadly)
